Your Benefits are Changing
The Help East Renfrewshire Online (HERO) project was launched in late 2013 following a successful bid for funding from East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau in partnership with local agencies including Barrhead Housing Association. the project provides free, confidential and independent advice and support.
Universal Credit is being rolled out across the UK and claimants of benefits will be expected to apply online. Universal Credit will replace the following benefits into one single monthly lump sum payment – income based jobseekers allowance; income related jobseekers allowance; income support; child tax credits; working tax credits and housing benefit.
HERO provides a resource to help local residents – sessions will be held in UnderCOVER from 26th November 2013 on a Tuesday and Friday between 10am and 2pm, where computers will be available to practice applying for any benefit online. Help will also be available in relation to money budgeting and adjusting to the monthly payment. UnderCOVER is situated between Tesco and LIdl at 56 Kelburn Street, Barrhead. If you have any concerns or require more information on these services, please contact Nicola at East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau on 0141 881 3660 or by visiting their website at East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau
